The Dykstra Naval Architects designed 178' Schooner Adix is currently leading the Caribbean 600 IRC Overall, IRC One, Spirit of Tradition and the Super Yacht class.
Keep going Adix!

Organised by The Royal Ocean Racing Club in association with Antigua Yacht Club. Start: Antigua, West Indies - Monday 22 February 2016 Course: Approx. 600nm non-stop around 11 Caribbean Islands

Built by Astilleros de Mallorca in 1984 to an Arthur Holgate design, at almost 65m/213ft Adix is one of the largest sailing yachts built since the 1930s. She was first refitted by the Pendennis Shipyard in 1991, and again in 2001 and 2008. She returned in 2014 to begin a series of modifications to improve her sailing performance, especially in light airs.
Dykstra Naval Architects was responsible for the refits and for carrying out calculations to lighten the hull. This was achieved by removing some ballast and redistributing what remained to lower her centre of gravity. New Southern Spars composite rig and bowsprit were installed, which provided 10 per cent more sail area.
