NEW Commission to Re-Imagine a Q Class Classic
Dykstra Naval Architects are appointed as the designers and naval architects to create a new 'Q Class' commission that re-imagines the original Q Class classic 'Falcon', sail number Q7. Using the original lines plan while optimizing the design under the original Universal Rule the new commission will be completed in time to celebrate the centenary of 'Falcon' in 2026.
The original Q Class "Falcon" was built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in 1926, her hull lines were by Burgess, Swasey and Paine.
The new Q Class project named "The Falcon Study" will be built by the UK based yard Spirit Yachts, well known and experienced for building "modern classic yachts". The design brief from the client and owner of the original 1926 Q Class Q7 "Falcon" is "to create a modern masterpiece that could inspire generations of sailors for the next 100 years". We are proud to be part of this team to create this beauty!
